These days, Zayn is one of ‘s most popular stars. He and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos to win the Undisputed Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 39. But Zayn recently revealed that, during his days as a dastardly heel, he envisioned facing Saxton in the ring.
Speaking on ’s The Bump, Zayn was asked to name which member of the commentary team he would fight if he had to, and he recalled how he previously pitched a match where he would face Saxton.
“I have two different answers for this,” Zayn said. “Many years ago, I was actually pitching to have a match with Byron Saxton, and it never came to fruition. The behind-the-scenes stuff, it never really caught on, but it was something that I thought could have been really interesting, especially when I was a bit more dastardly. I think personally there’s something very endearing about him.
