He lost the t**le in November of last year to Alex Pereira, but he got it back with a brutal knockout in April 2023, and now he will showcase it in Sydney.
Adesanya’s rival is the American Strickland, with a 27-5 record as a professional at 32 years old and winner of Nassourdine Imavov and Abusupiyan Magomedov in his last two appearances. He is in fifth place in the middleweight rankings. Still, with Dricus du Plessis injured his foot in the fight that beat Robert Whittaker to be the number 1 challenger, this opportunity appears to Strickland the first he has to be a champion in the UFC.
