The Mexicans Ángel “Tashiro” Fierro and Bryan Zamarripa will exchange shrapnel in an interesting duel in the lightweight division this Friday.
This Friday, multiple championships will be contested at the Tijuana Municipal Auditorium. They include a North American championship and two women’s championships (the WBC interim world championship and the WBA Continental Americas championship).
The fight is organized by Matchroom and Bxstrs and broadcast by DAZN.
On Thursday, there was a weight ceremony where everyone looked fit and ready for Friday’s exciting event. The fights promised to be intense and action-packed.
In the star turn, the prodigal son returns home. Ángel “Tashiro” Fierro, boxer from the popular Zona Norte Gym, will return to fight in his native Tijuana after four years of absence and returns to defend his NABO North American Lightweight Championship.
“Tashiro” Fierro (21-1-2, 17 knockouts) will face the dangerous and very fine Ensenada fighter Bryan Zamarripa (13-1-0, 4 knockouts) in a Baja California “civil war.” Both fighters weighed in at 134.5 pounds at the official weigh-in. This makes them eligible to face each other this Friday at the Municipal Auditorium of Tijuana. Fierro is a natural fighter, while Zamarripa is known for his boxing skills, technique, and speed.
Érika Cruz, a former world champion, will return to the ring. She had previously lost her WBA Featherweight world t**le to Amanda Serrano in a unification fight held in New York last February. The “Dinamita” Cruz (15-2-0, 3 knockouts) drops down the division to Super Bantamweight to compete in the WBA Continental Championship of the Americas, facing the American Melissa Odessa Parker (6-1-0, 2 knockouts), who was already the IBO Bantamweight Champion. Both Erika and Melissa weighed 121.9 pounds.
Another of the main fights will have in action one of the strongest local prospects, the undefeated and popular “Gallo Negro”, Kevin Crespo (12-0-0, 9 knockouts), a pupil of the “Jackie Nava Team”, who will face the toughest fight so far in his young career, when he faces the experienced Sonoran fighter Christian “Kiki” Olivo (20-1-1, 7 knockouts), in a 10-round featherweight clash. “Gallo Negro” and “Kiki” scored under the limit, registering 125.7 pounds.
To round out the boxing evening, the interim WBC women’s Featherweight world championship will be at stake between Argentina’s Sabrina Maribel Pérez (18-1-1, 2 knockouts) in the first defence of her t**le against the undefeated Australian Skye Nicolson ( 7-0-0). Sabrina became the champion in March by defeating Yolis Marrugo from Venezuela. She will now fight against Skye Nicolson from Australia. Skye is a left-handed boxer and has won over 100 amateur fights. She also represented Australia in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
At the official weigh-in, both champion and challenger weighed the same, 125.7 pounds, showing great physical work and uncompromising confidence.
The TV schedule starts with an exciting Heavyweight fight between two promising boxers. Federico Pacheco Jr. from Los Angeles will face Carlos Cárdenas from Guadalajara. Both boxers have a record of 4 wins and 3 knockouts. The fight will be 4 rounds long. Pacheco weighed in at 262.4 pounds, while Cárdenas weighed in at 223.8 pounds.
